Is it semi-permanent?  No, it is considered permanent. By definition and tattoo industry standards, pigment is implanted into the dermis (second layer below the epidermis) of the skin.  If pigment does not reach the dermis, it will disappear during the healing phase of the skin, during normal regeneration of cells at the epidermal level.  Pigments do fade in the skin over time, but that does not make the process semi-permanent.  It is impossible to predict how much pigment will fade away and how long it will take to do so with any measure of consistency or reliability.

Microblading does not last as long as other eyebrow tattoo techniques because a much smaller amount of pigment is tattooed into the skin as compared to solidly filled eyebrow tattoos (which tend to look unnatural).

Microblading (the current method) started in Taiwan around 1999-using a hand tool with pigment to draw individual hairs (although the concept has been around for centuries).  It has been popular in Europe since about 2011 and the technique is now (2016) gaining popularity in the United States.  Contrary to popular belief, it is permanent, however, over time (1-2 years) it will fade, especially if you spend time in the sun.  You may need a repeat application…the timing of which varies greatly based on skin type, age, skin care products used, sun exposure, color of pigment, thickness of strokes, etc.

Microblading is NOT recommended for the following clients who are or have:
Diabetes, Rosacea, Keloids, Epilepsy, Pacemaker or major heart problems, Organ transplants, Viral infections and/or diseases (herpes, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis.) With a doctor's note of approval you may still be able to have microblading performed.

Other contraindications: Pregnancy/nursing (consult your doctor), undergoing chemotherapy (consult your doctor), any skin irritations on the brow area (Psoriasis, rashes, sunburn, frostbite, acne), right after waxing (after 3 days allowed), after strong chemical peels, Botox (after 2 months allowed). Using Accutane, Isotretinoin or other strong retinoid (after 6 months allowed), moles and other skin appendages.  If you are sick (cold, flu, strep, etc.) very thin/sensitive skin and low pain tolerance.

Please read through the before and aftercare pages before setting your consultation appointment to ensure that you are an ideal candidate for permanent makeup.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding Microblading

Is all the brow hair shaved off before the tattoo is done?
Absolutely not!!  The more brow hair the better!  I may need to remove a little in order to have a clean brow outline.

Does it hurt?
Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, however, I use a 5% Lidocaine gel to numb the area during the procedure.  None of my clients have had any issues, many have said the pigment stings a little bit.  Some of my clients even fall asleep!

Do I just come one time?
No, it is a 2 part process.  You will have your initial appointment and then six weeks later have a touch up to perfect hair  strokes, color, shape etc.  Different skin types heal differently…everyone should have a touch up and it is included in the price.

Do you use a scalpel or tattoo machine?
For manual microblading I use a hand tool with a disposable “tip” which contains an alignment of 14-18 needles in a “U” shape.  The skin is scratched and embedded with pigment, not cut.  I use a tattoo machine for shading.

Do you only have one color?
NO!  I have over 12 different colors of medical grade sterile pigment. I can do any color from blonde, silver, brunette, red to black.
